Exciting New Partnership
We’re excited to announce that Rodin Cars has come on board as the lead sponsor for our upcoming F1 in Schools HQ programme. This global initiative aims to immerse students in the world of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) through the thrilling process of designing, analysing, manufacturing, testing, and racing miniature F1 cars powered by compressed air.
Founded by visionary David Dicker, Rodin Cars is dedicated to creating some of the world’s fastest cars, all crafted in the beautiful North Canterbury region. This week, our students were fortunate to visit Rodin’s cutting-edge manufacturing facility at Mt Lyford, complete with assembly facilities and test tracks. The experience was nothing short of extraordinary!
During the visit, students gained hands-on insights into the car design and manufacturing process. They explored the advanced technologies employed at the facility, including CNC machining and 3D printing, working with materials such as magnesium and titanium to create car parts from scratch. This real-world application of STEM principles inspired our students and highlighted the innovative spirit that drives the automotive industry.
In addition to the design experience, students toured the assembly areas where they saw Rodin’s incredible FZED and FZERO cars up close. The excitement peaked when we took our school van for a spin around the tracks—at a very safe and sensible pace, of course!
We extend our heartfelt thanks to our expert tour guide, Michael, and the entire Rodin team for their hospitality and support. This partnership marks an exciting chapter for our kura, and we can’t wait to see where this collaboration takes us. Together, we are fostering the next generation of innovators and engineers through the exhilarating world of motorsport!
