Our biannual school magazine tells Rangi Ruru’s stories through the voices of current and past students, teachers, leaders and the wider school community
The name Wide Sky stems from our school name. Rangi Ruru was gifted to our school’s founders by Ngāi Tahu leader and former warrior from Rāpaki, Pāora Taki, and means “wide sky shelter, a place for hospitality and generosity”. This sentiment is at the heart of everything we do at Rangi Ruru, and we are able to celebrate these stories through the pages of Wide Sky.
Wide Sky is created by the Rangi Ruru Community Relations Team in close collaboration with the wider school and Rangi Ruru Old Girls’ Association. Print and digital copies are distributed to around 6000 members of our Rangi Ruru community, typically at the end of Terms 2 and 4, respectively.
