Music Across the Generations

The elegant surrounds of Holly Lea Retirement Village in Fendalton provided the perfect backdrop for a series of intimate chamber music performances by three of our talented student ensembles. Music Director, Janet Kingsbury reported that with sunlight filtering through windows and the tranquil gardens just beyond, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming for her students.

Residents were treated to beautiful performances by:

  • The Dolce Trio – Lucy Peoples and Bella Wu (flutes) and Katherine Wang (piano)
  • The Four Strings – Renee Jiang, Tiffany Li (violins), Donna Qiu (viola), and Emma Xing (cello)
  • Trio Windspiel – Jessica Drury (French horn), Ruby Bentley (clarinet), and Abby Fleming (piano)

Each group brought their own character and charm, offering a rich and thoughtful programme that was received with genuine appreciation by the Holly Lea community.

This event is part of a growing and valued relationship between our school and the residents of Holly Lea. The experience of bringing music into this environment goes far beyond performance. It’s about connection and the joy of sharing something meaningful. For our students, it is a chance to give their music purpose beyond the practice room, to develop confidence, and to engage with an audience in a deeply human way. For residents, it offers the pleasure of live performance and the uplifting energy that comes from time spent with rangitahi.

We are grateful to the staff and residents of Holly Lea for welcoming us so warmly, and to our students for sharing their talents with heart. This ongoing connection is a beautiful reminder of how music can bring people of all ages together.
