For Ākonga Entering Years 10 or 11 in 2027
Applications due 31 August 2026, 4.00pm. No late applications accepted.
The Rangi Ruru Music Excellence Scholarship supports highly motivated ākonga who demonstrate exceptional musical ability, academic commitment, and leadership potential.
Open to students, not currently enrolled, entering Year 10 or Year 11 in 2027, this scholarship recognises more than performance talent. It is for young musicians who are ready to participate fully in the life of Rangi Ruru — contributing to academic music, co-curricular ensembles, performance opportunities, and the wider school community.
Recognising exceptional musical ability, academic commitment, and leadership potential.
Rangi Ruru has a proud history of academic, music, and all-round excellence. Music scholars are expected to continue Music as an academic subject throughout their time at the school and to commit to an active involvement in the co-curricular music programme during these years. This includes being available to perform as soloists and in small groups at school and wider community events, membership of vocal and instrumental groups suited to their strengths for the entire year/season (over and above any outside music groups that they may be involved in – which is supported) and mentoring younger or less experienced students. These commitments will be discussed with and reviewed by the Director of Music on an annual basis.
For the right applicant, this is an opportunity to bring their music into a community that values excellence, commitment, leadership, and contribution.
